National Poetry Month Celebration at the Library

On Saturday, April 30, at 2:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Stratford Public Library, a group poetry reading will take place to celebrate National Poetry Month. Admission is free and all are welcome. The event is sponsored by The Canada Council for the Arts and The League of Canadian Poets
The reading has been organized by Poetry Stratford and the Stratford Public Library. The following poets will be participating in the reading: Gay Allison, Bill Bissett, Charles Mountford and Honey Novick.
Gay Allison is a poet, editor and English teacher with a special interest in exploring the ancestral memory of women, ancient archetypes and contemporary relationships. Also, she is the Founding Editor of Fireweed, a feminist journal.
Bill Bissett is a poet, editor, painter and musician. He has been a leading figure not only on the West Coast scene, but in Canadian culture nationally. He has been called a “precious and non-renewable cultural resource” and “a one-man civilization”.
Charles Mountford is a Stratford poet and humorist. Founder and Artistic Director of Poetry Stratford: A Reading Series, he is currently poet-in-residence at The Library.
Honey Novick is a singer, songwriter, voice teacher and poet in Toronto. She directs the Creative Vocalization Studio and the UNESCO endorsed “New Songs for Peace” project. She is also the literary director of ARTWALK.
