Freedom to Read Week 2011

Your freedom to read should never be taken for granted. Even here in Canada, a free country by world standards, books and magazines are still banned at the border. There are libraries, schools and bookstores where challenged books are removed from the shelves daily.
At Stratford Public Library, we pride ourselves in being nonjudgmental of a person's personal reading habits.  We have many books in our collection that have been banned or challenged throughout history (did you know that one of the first instances of a banned book was in 259BC? A full timeline here.)
In honour of Freedom to Read Week which runs February 20 - 26, why not read one of the many Frequently Challenged Books available at the Stratford Public Library? After, why not provide a review or star rating in the catalogue?
